Frank J. Rizzo of Cheektowaga, a retired educator and administrator who worked in Buffalo Public Schools and the Lancaster Central School District, died Monday in Millard Fillmore Hospital after a brief illness. He was 74.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Rizzo attended Canisius College and Buffalo State College, earning a master's degree and an administrator's certificate.
He was in education from 1958 to 1994. He worked 12 years for Buffalo Public Schools, where he was a teacher and assistant principal, and 24 years at Lancaster Central Schools, where he was an elementary school principal at Bowmansville, Court Street and Central Avenue schools.
Mr. Rizzo was a member of the Amherst Male Glee Club for more than 28 years and a Buffalo Bills season-ticket holder for 50 years, with a seat at the 50-yard line.
Survivors include his wife, the former Margaret L. O'Hara; three sons, Mark, Frank and Paul; and a brother, Carmen Contino.
Services were held Thursday.
