Dr. Bruce J. Bronstein, a retired podiatrist who had served as president of the Podiatry Society of New York, Western Division, in the early 1980s, died Friday in his East Amherst home after a brief illness. He was 65.
The Buffalo native was a graduate of Riverside High School and the University at Buffalo. He earned a doctor in podiatric medicine from the M.J. Lewi College of Podiatry in New York City and spent 38 years in practice in Western New York, serving on the staffs at Erie County Medical Center, Buffalo General Hospital and Sisters Hospital, among others.
Dr. Bronstein was president of the Western Division of the Podiatry Society of New York from 1981 to 1983. He was a member of the American Podiatric Medical Association and the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons.
He was affiliated with Temple Beth El in the Town of Tonawanda and, after a merger of synagogues, with Temple Beth Tzedek in Amherst.
Survivors include his wife, the former Lynn Goldstein; a son, Andrew; two sisters, Kim Vitale and Gayle; and two brothers, Richard W. and Lewis Jr.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Temple Beth Tzedek, 621 Getzville Road, Amherst.
