Police seek Buffalo man in shooting of worker outside candy warehouse

Police are searching for a Buffalo man in connection with a shooting Thursday morning outside a warehouse on Military Road in the Town of Tonawanda, officials said.

Julio Lopez, 40, of Buffalo was shot at 6:45 a.m. just outside the employees' entrance to the Tzetzo Brothers warehouse at 1100 Military at Ericson Avenue near Kenmore Avenue, according to Town of Tonawanda Police Lt. Nicholas Bado.

Lopez works at Tzetzo, a bulk candy company, where most employees begin their shift at 7 a.m.

Authorities believe there was some sort of confrontation before Lopez was shot, Bado said.

Lopez was taken to Erie County Medical Center, where he underwent surgery. His injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Town of Tonawanda police, meanwhile, continued searching for Angel L. Rivera, 37, of Kenmore Avenue, who was still at large late Thursday.

Rivera was believed to be driving a blue, four-door 2006 Toyota Scion with New York plates DEV-5383.

Police said Rivera should be considered "armed and dangerous" and should not be approached.

Police scoured the industrial neighborhood for Rivera, and detectives interviewed witnesses.

Rivera's mug shot was distributed to law enforcement officials statewide.

Police said they had no updates on the case late Thursday.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Town of Tonawanda Police at 879-6613 or 879-6627.
