Hodgson Russ attorneys John J. Zak, Ronald J. Battaglia Jr., and Brian D. Manning, all members of the firm's Corporate and Securities Practice Group, were speakers at the New York State Bar Association's "Accounting for Lawyers" seminar series. The seminars were held throughout December in Albany, Rochester, New York City, and Long Island.

BB&T Corporation, a financial services holding company based in Winston-Salem, N.C., named Ralph Borrello wealth management sales and service director at its Charlotte, N.C. office. Borrello is a University at Buffalo graduate.

Michael Straeck, president and CEO of Buffalo Ultrasound, was re-elected regional director for the National Association of Portable X-Ray Providers. He will serve a one-year term working with portable X-ray providers in 13 states and the District of Columbia to address state and federal issues concerning the industry.

Leadership Niagara has announced a leadership transformation program and coaching and mentoring program. The new leadership program is unique for community leadership development programs nationwide, as participants will study the art and science of leading an organization through change and transformation, innovation, and teamwork and collaboration. Leaders will also be provided individually tailored personal leadership development throughout the year with coaching and mentoring. Leadership Niagara's Class of 2011 began its year-long program "One Year That Will Change Your Life!" with an overnight retreat at the Giacomo Boutique Hotel in Niagara Falls on Jan. 14.

Mighty Taco recently celebrated the grand opening of its 18th restaurant, at 2455 Grand Island Blvd. The new Mighty Taco features a large seating capacity, drive thru service, and ample on-site parking. A Buffalo-area staple for 37 years, Mighty Taco opened additional locations in Western New York this past year, including on Walden Avenue in Cheektowaga and on McKinley Parkway at Bailey Avenue, the company's first co-branded location. Mighty Taco paired with Noco and opened at the existing Noco site.
