The Monday Quarterback Club, the business group that backs the Buffalo Bills, has announced the recipients of its annual player awards. Recipients for the 2010 season are as follows: Man of the Year: QB Ryan Fitzpatrick; The Steve Tasker Special Teams Player of the Year: S George Wilson; Special Teams "Kick Coverage" Award: FB Corey McIntyre; Eddie Abramoski "Unsung Hero" Award (co-winners): RB Fred Jackson and DL Kyle Williams; Rookie of the Year: WR David Nelson; Outstanding Achievement: WR Stevie Johnson. The players will receive their awards at a special ceremony during the offseason. The Monday Quarterback Club was founded by area community leaders in 1960. BASEBALL: The Buffalo School of Baseball will hold a pitching clinic on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. To register call 681-3001 or

FOOTBALL: Cross Training Football is holding an Ultimate Football League and several one-day tournaments. The league (for grades 7-11) will begin Feb. 5 and run each Saturday through Feb. 26 at Sweet Home High School. Games (five-on-five) will be played from 1-5 p.m. There will be a little league tournament (seventh grade and under) on Saturday; a junior varsity tournament (ninth grade and under) on Jan. 22 (register by Saturday); and a varsity tournament (12th grade and under) on Jan. 29 (register by Jan. 22). Cost is $60 per team/officials or $10 per player. Go to

BASKETBALL: The seventh annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day basketball clinic will be staged at the Koessler Center, Main Street and E. Delavan Avenue, at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Among the guests are Thurman Thomas, Naaman Roosevelt and Mike Williams. Call Derek Summers at 597-3098. The Delaware Family YMCA will host a coed youth basketball league. Children ages 5-12 are encouraged to register. Participants practice on Thursday evenings: ages 5-8 from 6-7 p.m., ages 9-12 from 7-8 p.m. Games are Saturdays from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. The cost is $35 for YMCA members and $55 for non-members. VOLLEYBALL: The Delaware Family YMCA, 2564 Delaware Ave., invites adults ages 18 and up for an adult co-ed volleyball league. Matches begin Jan. 22 and run until June 19 from 6-9 p.m. every other Saturday. Participants will engage in six-on-six play with an official. Contact Shauna Parkinson at 875-1283.
