The clean, wide-open spaces of Shakti Yoga are good for more than just sun salutations. Music, too, benefits from such a relaxing environment.
Saturday, the Grant Street venue will play host to violinist Amy Glidden, associate concertmaster of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Glidden will be playing solo violin masterworks by J.S. Bach and Belgian virtuoso Eugene Ysaye and will be joined by BPO colleague Andrea Cone in a violin duo by the inventive 20th century French composer Darius Milhaud. The evening will also include Estonian composer Arvo Part's "Spiegel im Spiegel," or "Mirror in the Mirror," featuring BPO percussionist Dinesh Joseph.
The performance takes place at 8 p.m. Saturday at Shakti Yoga (133 Grant St.). Come prepared for mostly floor seating, with limited chairs and benches available. Suggested donation is $10. Proceeds benefit Priscilla's Project, which aids refugee women.
