Elizabeth T. Watts, who worked as a nursing assistant at Roswell Park Cancer Institute and was a longtime union leader, died Dec. 29 in Highlands at Brighton Transitional Care Facility, Rochester. She was 86.
Born Elizabeth Bessie Morris in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Hutchinson-Central High School. She started work at Roswell Park in 1960 and served for many years in the Civil Service Employees Association as a union steward and a member of the bargaining unit's negotiating team.
Mrs. Watts was respected among fellow union employees as the go-to steward for contract grievances and other employment issue. She retired in 1983.
She is survived by a son, Leroyal Jr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon today in Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 317 Leroy Ave., after a wake at 11.
