Man answering online ad is beaten and robbed

A Buffalo man was beaten and robbed of his clothing and vehicle over the weekend while answering an ad on Craigslist, police reported today.

Police reports didn't indicate what was being advertised.

The man told police he responded to the ad at a residence on Poplar Street at 11:30 p.m. Saturday. He met a man who took him to a home on Stewart Avenue in the city's Schiller Park neighborhood.

Once there, the victim was assaulted and robbed of his clothing, cell phone and wallet. The Jeep he left on Poplar Street also was missing.

Niagara Parkway crash injures 4, 1 critically

NIAGARA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ont. -- Four people were injured, one critically, in a one-car crash early Sunday on the Niagara Parkway.

The northbound vehicle left the road sometime before 1:17 a.m., crashed through a wooden fence and a group of trees, then fell several feet down an embankment before coming to rest near the water's edge, Niagara Regional Police said.

A 21-year-old male passenger in the vehicle had to be extricated and airlifted to Hamilton General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was listed in critical condition, police said.

The driver, Sandeeps Sidhu-Brar, 21 of Mississauga, was charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm.

Sidhu-Brar, as well as two other male passengers from Mississauga, were taken to Greater Niagara General Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

Speeding driver, 23, also charged with DWI

LITTLE VALLEY -- A Narrows Road man was arrested for driving while intoxicated shortly before midnight Friday by Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies on Route 242.

Derek R. Horning, 23, was stopped for traveling 82 mph in a 55-mph zone and was charged with DWI, speeding and no vehicle inspection. Officers said following processing Horning registered a blood alcohol count of 0.16 percent, twice the legal limit.

He's to answer to the charges in Little Valley Town Court at a later date.

Two armed bandits rob man of $640 in Black Rock

Two armed men broke into a home in the city's Black Rock neighborhood over the weekend and robbed the resident of several hundred dollars.

The victim told police the two gunmen entered the house on Pavonia Street, which is off Hertel Avenue near Military Road, through an unlocked front door at about 4:19 p.m. Saturday.

One of the intruders pistol-whipped the resident, and both demanded money. The victim gave the bandits $640 in cash, and the two men ran from the house, according to police reports.

Probation violation charged in arrest of man, 18

PERSIA -- A Gowanda man was arrested Thursday by East Aurora police on a warrant charging probation violation in the Town of Persia.

Joshua W. Schiefer, 18, of Erie Avenue, was turned over to Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies. Following arraignment in Persia Town Court he was taken to the Cattaraugus County jail with bail set at $500.

Skidding SUV leaves road, plunges into water

OAKFIELD -- An Oakfield man suffered a back injury when his SUV skidded off Batavia-Oakfield Town Line Road near Macomber Road at about 1:15 p.m. Sunday, careened down an embankment and overturned into water, the Genesee County Sheriff's Office reports.

Deputies said John J. Smalley, 48, of South Main Street, was driving too fast for the snowy road conditions. He was charged with speeding.

South Buffalo teen, 16, missing since Friday

Buffalo police are looking for a missing teenager from South Buffalo.

Jonathan Krollman, 16, of Cochrane Street, was last seen at his home between 10 and 11 a.m. Friday, said Michael J. DeGeorge, Buffalo police spokesman.

Krollman is described as a white, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall, weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 851-4415.

Car, laptop computer taken from car dealership

A car and laptop computer were taken during a burglary at a Grand Island car dealership over the weekend.

A cinder block was thrown through the front window of Grand Island Auto Sales, 1719 Grand Island Blvd., sometime Saturday, Erie County sheriff's officials said.

A laptop and several items were stolen from inside the office, including the keys to a gray 2002 Pontiac Grand Am parked out front.

Passenger check finds man wanted on warrant

FREEDOM -- Cattaraugus County sheriff's deputies checking a passenger in a traffic stop found he was wanted in Wyoming County on a warrant charging driving while intoxicated.

John S. Krawczyk Jr., 41, of Cooley Road in Bliss was taken into custody and transferred to Wyoming County sheriff's deputies on Thursday.
