State curtailing services at Woodland Beach Park

Service at Woodlawn Beach State Park will be curtailed in the off-season as part of state cost-cutting, the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced.

Starting on Saturday, there will be no public services such as staffing, plowing, parking or access to restrooms. The public still will have access for outdoor daytime activities such as hiking.

The agency will resume staffing and providing support for park services in the spring, according to Western District Director Mark W. Thomas.

Southern Tier sees snow but no major problems

The Southern Tier saw a little bit of snow Wednesday but not enough to cause any major problems.

Cattaraugus County sheriff's officials reported a "few inches" of snow that remained on the ground late Wednesday.

In Chautauqua County, about an inch fell, but it all melted by nighttime. The snow caused some slippery conditions on I-86, where a couple of minor accidents were reported during the evening.
