School boards hire firm to study merger feasibility
FREDONIA -- The Fredonia and Brocton school boards met jointly Wednesday night in the Fredonia High School library and hired a firm to do a feasibility study on the merger of their two districts.
The Western New York Educational Service Council at the University at Buffalo was named to do the study at a cost of $35,000. The districts will apply for a state Local Government Efficiency grant to cover the cost.
Bren Price from the council said that a large committee, made up of 20 people appointed by each of the two boards, will be formed to study various aspects of a merger. The first committee meeting will be held Dec. 13.
Anyone interested in serving on the committee should e-mail Brocton District Clerk Linda Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org or Fredonia District Clerk Wendy Heslink at email@example.com to request an application.
