In what Business Week has called "The New Age of Frugality," we find ourselves bombarded with consumer-oriented budget advice. But a lot of this money-saving "news" is old hat to Western New Yorkers, where our working-class culture has ingrained in us a financial ethic unparalleled in some other parts of the country.
