PHILADELPHIA -- Yes, I advertised an update or two yesterday and didn't come through. Sleep happens. Anyway, the workout was pretty tame. Not many Phillies around to speak (I'm told Ryan Howard answered two or three perfunctory questions nearly 90 minutes after he was done hitting, when basically everyone but a few Philly folks was gone from the clubhouse).
Key item of the day is weather. It's cloudy, windy and drizzly outside right now. The rain is expected to pick up this afternoon but they're hopeful it's mostly out of here by the 9 p.m. range. So maybe we get this one in with a delay. A rainout causes a ton of travel headaches at this thing, not to mention changes ticketholders games to a different day so they'd like to avoid it.
It's a crazy weekend at the Sports Complex in South Philly. Today we have the Briere-less Flyers and Devils at 4 at Wachovia Center, some dance troupe at the Spectrum at 7:30 plus the Series. Tomorrow, we have the Eagles-Falcons at 1 (with 70,000 slated to be on hand), The Who at the Wachovia Center at 7:30 and the Series at 8. Yikes. I'll be taking the media shuttle bus.
