>Fatal shooting probed on Deer St. in Dunkirk

DUNKIRK -- Police investigated a fatal shooting on Deer Street that occurred shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday.

According to reports, the shooting occurred in the 500 block of Deer. Police said the victim, a man, died from a gunshot wound in Brooks Memorial Hospital.

Dunkirk police were investigating.

>Suspect arrested in Fort Erie break-in

FORT ERIE, Ont. -- Niagara Regional Police have arrested a Fort Erie man in connection with a break-in at a downtown business in September.

Krystoffer Bergmeier, 21, has been accused of entering a Jarvis Street-area business at about 3:15 a.m. Sept. 20 and trying to open the cash register.

Bergmeier fled after a brief altercation with the business owner, police said.

>$3,000 in tools, copper stolen from school work site

Tools and copper fittings valued at more than $3,000 were taken from a work site at South Park High School, police said Tuesday.

The theft occurred between 3:30 p.m. Monday and 7 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
