Canisius got a great look at the course it all but certainly will be seeing on Nov. 15.
The Crusaders took fourth at the Section I Coaches Invitational at Bowdoin Park in Wappingers Falls, which will be the site of this year's Federation meet.
"We obviously wanted to see the course with the "Fed' going to be here," said coach Brian Lombardo. "I thought as a team it was by far the best race of the year … we have had some individuals run very well, but I thought one through five this was our best race. We had guys moving up, and guys running smart."
Jordan Hamm led the way in seventh at 16:41, followed by Barry Fitzgerald (12th, 17:10), Cameron Gallivan (22nd, 17:23), Colin Bogdan (34, 17:44) and Eli Dawli (42nd, 18:01).
"Our fifth man literally moved up 20 spots," said Lombardo. "It's that kind of attitude. ... And coming here, it's a different type of course. It's a tough course, and it's a benefit for us to run here earlier in the year. When we come back for states, we know that we'll need to focus here, or remember things about the course -- it will jog our memory and hopefully help us later in the year."
