Fredonia man faces marijuana charges

POMFRET -- An 18-year-old Fredonia man who didn't immediately return a debit card to a female acquaintance was arrested on marijuana charges after he arrived at the woman's house Thursday and found state police there, troopers reported.

Kyle P. Sam of Webster Road was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

A 19-year-old Palmyra woman was being interviewed by troopers Thursday morning after she said she left her debit card in Sam's car last weekend and that he found it but failed to return it to her.

While troopers interviewed the woman, Sam arrived at her residence. Police reported finding "a strong smell of marijuana" coming from his vehicle. Sam was accused of possessing about 3.5 grams of marijuana seeds along with three smoking pipes.

Police found the woman's card in Sam's vehicle as well and returned it to her. No new activity was reported to have been made on the card, authorities reported.
