This Day in Buffalo Sports History

Oct. 15, 1970 -- Buffalo's wait to host a game in the National Hockey League finally comes to an end. The Sabres take on the eventual Stanley Cup champions of that season, the Montreal Canadiens, and lose, 3-0. It was a game Roger Crozier, the Sabres' goalie, wouldn't easily forget.

"I don't think the puck was out of our end that much during the game," he said. "It seemed like I had to keep making save after save. That puck was fired at me a lot that game."

He wasn't lying. Crozier made 21 saves in the second period and 18 in the third on his way to a 50-save night.
