Canisius volleyball: After dropping the first set, the Griffs came back to defeat Manhattan in four -- 23-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-17. Senior Morgan Ammons led Canisius (10-6, 5-2 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) with 15 kills and 17 digs. Freshman Layne Adams had a career-high 10 kills while hitting .333. In the first set, Manhattan used a five-point run to turn a 19-18 Canisius lead into a 23-19 advantage. Canisius responded in the second set, breaking open an 11-11 game with a quick four-point run. The Griffs host Iona at 2 p.m. today.
Niagara volleyball: The Purple Eagles fell to 1-6 in the MAAC and 3-15 overall with a straight set loss to Iona. Hannah Hedrick and Holly Allgeier each had eight kills. Niagara hosts Manhattan at 1 p.m. today.
ECC volleyball: Lindsey Harmon (West Seneca East) was named to the All-Tournament team at the Alfred State Tournament with 30 digs on the day. ECC defeated Corning and Onondaga while losing to Jamestown and Alfred.
NCCC men's soccer: Derek Hornung (Niagara Falls) and Derek Gagnon (Wilson) each scored two goals in the Trailblazers' 5-2 win over Corning. NCCC improves to 7-6 overall.
ECC men's soccer: Denis Anadio-Wani (Bennett) scored the game-winning goal for the Kats (6-8) in a 2-1 overtime decision over Mercyhurst Northeast.
Buffalo State men's soccer: The Bengals dropped a 3-0 decision at Oswego for their second loss in State University of New York Athletic Conference play. The Bengals (9-5, 3-3 SUNYAC) had entered the weekend on a four-game winning streak.
Buffalo State women's soccer: The Bengals extended their unbeaten streak to five games with a 2-0 win over Oswego. Sophomore Barb Kiliszek (Lancaster) had a goal and an assist for the Bengals (7-5-1, 3-2-1 SUNYAC).
