>Konst files finance reports, some of them long overdue
Democratic State Senate candidate Kathy Konst on Tuesday filed campaign finance reports with the state Board of Elections, some of which were six weeks overdue.
Konst's latest report showed her with $3,883 on hand, compared with the almost $77,000 reported earlier this week by her Republican opponent, incumbent Dale M. Volker of Lancaster. Friday, she missed her third deadline in a row for filing the reports, which outline where campaign donations originate and how they are spent.
The board sued Konst earlier this month over her failure to file the reports as required by election law.
Board spokesman Bob Brehm said the Konst campaign will still be required to show up in State Supreme Court in Albany on Oct. 17 to answer the lawsuit, adding that he expects a monetary penalty will be assessed.
Republican leaders led by Erie County Chairman James P. Domagalski had been critical of Konst's failure to file.
