The Buffalo News Book Club celebrates its sixth birthday this month -- that's 61 great reads from October 2003 to October 2008.
Just for fun, we looked back at the books featured during those six Octobers; there were five novels and one nonfiction work. And if you haven't read them yet, by all means add them to your reading list:
*October 2003: "Straight Man" by Richard Russo
*October 2004: "Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America" by Barbara Ehrenreich
*October 2005: "The First Desire" by Nancy Reisman
*October 2006: "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult
*October 2007: "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger
*October 2008: "The Thirteenth Tale" by Diane Setterfield
If you'd like to see a list of all 61 titles, go to Buffalonews.com/newsbookclub.
We're sworn to secrecy about the last two books for this year, but we think they will surprise and entertain you as the days get darker and colder.
As for the 2009 list, we're just about to start the search for 12 excellent books to share. We'd love to hear your suggestions. Send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
