FIRE DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE: "Sparky" the fire dog and "Pluggie" the fire hydrant will be on hand at Grand Island Fire Company's fire prevention open house from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the fire house, 2275 Baseline Road. The event will feature safety programs, fire truck rides, displays and a hot dog cookout.
