Fender bender leads to fight, two arrests

A minor traffic accident downtown early Saturday led to two people being arrested on assault charges after they attacked the two occupants of a car they backed into on Washington Street, police said.

Dwane B. Lewis, 21, of Hempstead Avenue, and Darren Brant, 21, of Hagen Street, were each charged with felony assault following the run-in at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, police said.

Police said a car containing the two men backed into another car, and attempted to leave. When two people in the car that was hit attempted to stop the other car, they were beaten by the two suspects and four other men, police said.

A Buffalo woman said she was punched in the nose and throat, and her male companion from Kenmore was also punched in the face and the back of his head.
