Warehouse worker charged in thefts

CLYMER -- A night shift worker in the warehouse at Maplevale Farms, 956 W. Main St., was charged with petit larceny late Wednesday after he admitted he has been stealing food items for the last 10 months, Chautauqua County sheriff's deputies report.

James E. Carutis, 28, of Wattsburg, Pa., was issued an appearance ticket, and an investigation was continuing, deputies said.

The investigation began last week after Maplevale Farms reported that numerous food items were missing from the warehouse every time an inventory was taken. Officers interviewed all the employees on the night shift.
