CWM facility certified as a wildlife habitat

PORTER -- CWM Chemical Services' Balmer Road facility was recently certified as a wildlife habitat at the Wildlife Habitat Council's 19th annual symposium in Baltimore.

About 400 of the site's 750 acres are composed of wetlands, forests and grasslands, company officials said.

The hazardous waste landfill is one of 33 landfills across the country owned by CWM's parent company, Houston-based Waste Management, to receive the designation.

Waste Management's solid waste landfill in Chaffee also received the designation.

The Wildlife Habitat Council is a nonprofit group of corporations, conservation organizations and individuals based in Silver Spring, Md.
