LOCAL NEWS BRIEFS

>School remains closed after chimney damage

Classes for students attending Bennett Park Montessori School 32 are canceled today following Tuesday's wind damage to a chimney at School 63, where the Montessori pupils are currently attending classes, Buffalo Public Schools spokesman Stefan Mychajliw reported.

Mychajliw said contractors and engineers Wednesday inspected the inside of the chimney stack, which was damaged at about 3 p.m. Tuesday at the 120 Minnesota Ave. school. Additional tests will be required, however.Once those test results are received, officials will determined whether the building is safe for pupils to return.

The windy weather also was blamed for felling a streetlight pole, which fell onto a car on Potters Road in South Buffalo.
