Maryland stays No. 3

In my votes for this week's Associated Press Top 25 women's basketball poll, I kept Maryland at No. 3 despite their struggle to beat unranked UCLA on Sunday. The Terps played eight games in 16 days and made their West Coast trip without head coach Brenda Frese, who stayed home on doctor's advice while pregnant with twins. I was contemplating how far to drop them in the polls when watching UCLA go up double digits in the second half only to see Maryland come back and win by two. That kind of gut check keeps them at No. 3 in my poll, behind Tennessee and UConn.
