>Tree-planting effort in need of volunteers
Williamsville village officials are looking for volunteers to help plant trees as part of the effort to replace those lost during the October 2006 snowstorm.
"We really need people to get involved," said Trustee Brian Geary.
Williamsville was hard hit by the storm. Over the year, Geary said, the village has managed to plant some trees and has received grants and other funding.
But the effort is getting harder, Geary said, noting that he and two other village officials -- former trustee Richard Sweeney and Nick Roth, the head of the Tree Board -- recently had to plant 20 trees alone because they could not find volunteers.
In addition to those willing to help plant trees, the village is also seeking residents who have grant-writing experience or who want to make financial or other contributions.
Those interested should contact Geary at 632-1312 or by e-mailing email@example.com.
