John E. O'Neill, a West Seneca resident and retired executive of Frigidaire Corp., died Thursday in Mercy Hospital after celebrating Thanksgiving with his family. He was 83.
Born and raised in Buffalo, Mr. O'Neill was a graduate of South Park High School. He married Edna Donovan in 1944 and the following year began a career with Frigidaire Corp. that spanned more than 25 years. He retired from Frigidaire as a district sales manager in 1971.
Mr. O'Neill was an active member of St. Bonaventure Catholic Church in West Seneca, where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He took Communion to the residents of Garden Gate Health Care Facility, where he was named Volunteer of the Year.
He was a longtime summer resident of Snyder Beach in Angola.
In addition to his wife, Mr. O'Neill is survived by three daughters, Ann Lewis, Patty Manns and Peggy; and three sons, Jack, Dan and Michael.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. today in St. Bonaventure Church, 36 Flohr Ave., West Seneca, with prayers at 9 in Hoy Funeral Home, 3855 Seneca St., West Seneca.
