Vandalism, thefts lead to police investigation

NIAGARA FALLS -- Police are investigating vandalism and thefts Thursday at a Cedar Avenue apartment complex.

Officials said nine security cameras, a radio and a TV set were damaged. Also, Christmas decorations and a wall clock were stolen, police said. The loss was estimated at $1,300.


Laptop, camera stolen from home, woman says

NIAGARA FALLS -- A LaSalle-area woman told police someone broke into her apartment Thursday.

Someone entered the 70th Street apartment through a window at about noon, stealing a laptop computer, some video disks and a digital camera. The loss was estimated at $710.


Woman steals checks, credit card from man

NIAGARA FALLS -- Police Friday said they are investigating allegations of a 28th Street man, who said he was robbed by a woman staying in his house overnight Wednesday.

The resident told police that while driving her on some errands Thursday he discovered his credit card in her possession, police said.

Police said he later discovered the woman also stole two checks, forging and cashing one for $50. Police advised him to seek a warrant for the woman's arrest.


Identity thief charges laptop on victim's credit

NIAGARA FALLS Police said someone stole the personal information of a Lewiston Road man to charge up more than $1,200 worth of computer products.

The victim noticed the purchase after checking out his credit card statement, police said. The information was used to buy a laptop computer and wireless mouse, police said.


Door at gas station broken by cinder block

WHEATFIELD -- Someone threw a cinder block through the glass door of the Citgo gas station on River Road early Thursday, according to a report from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's deputies responded to an alarm call just after 3 a.m. They don't believe entry had been gained to the inside of the store.

Damage was estimated at $500.
