IDA to hold hearings on two new projects

WHEATFIELD -- The Niagara County Industrial Development Agency has scheduled public hearings for Dec. 19 on two new projects. The IDA board may vote on them as soon as its Dec. 20 meeting.

A hearing on a 15-year property tax break sought by Pop & Lock Corp. of Welland, Ont., will be held at 4 p.m. in the IDA offices, 6311 Inducon Corporate Parkway. The maker of auto ignitions and tailgate locks plans to purchase the former Voyager Emblem plant on Lockport Road and move its Canadian factory there during the first quarter of 2008. About 35 jobs are to be created within three years.

The day's second hearing, for aid to an office and retail building at 950 Cleveland Ave., Niagara Falls, planned by Ah-Shay Enterprises, will be held at 5 p.m. in Niagara Falls City Hall, 745 Main St. The company is seeking a 10-year IDA tax break as a backup in case state Empire Zone tax credits are altered during the decade.
