Dr. Milton Stern of Amherst, a retired dentist, died Wednesday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga. He was 83.
Dr. Stern, an orthodontist, had a practice for more than 50 years in Kenmore and Williamsville.
The Buffalo native was a 1942 graduate of Fosdick-Masten Park High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Canisius College and a doctoral degree in dental surgery from the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He served the Seneca Nation while he practiced general dentistry. He later completed a postdoctoral program in orthodontics at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Stern served as president of Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity and was a member of the Erie County Dental Society and the Eighth District Dental Society. He belonged to B'nai B'rith.
Surviving are his wife, Joan; two daughters, Nancy Okamoto and Patricia Troy; and a son, Andrew.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Sunday in Amherst Memorial Chapel, 281 Dodge Road, Amherst.
