Holiday Homes When you're done hanging your own mistletoe, check out one of the local tours of festively dressed houses

Those who enjoy poking their heads into other people's homes won't want to miss the lineup of holiday house tours coming in the weeks ahead.

These are the places to garner ideas for your own home or simply to enjoy the stunning interiors and exteriors of local homes festively attired for the holidays by homeowners, designers, florists and decorators.

December fills up so quickly, so mark your calendars:

Christmas in the Village Tour of Homes, Lewiston

Included in this year's tour, themed "A View from the Hill," are three mansions and a carriage house on Mountain View Drive; and the Frontier House, where visitors will view "Graceful Settings," a series of "tablescapes" created by Williams-Sonoma, Pitt Petri, Blooms Home Decor and other floral and interior designers.

Complimentary trolley service runs continually with stops at the Barton Hill Hotel, Frontier House and Clarkson House, as well as the featured homes. The event is sponsored by the Historical Association of Lewiston.

Details: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2.

Holiday House Tour, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont.,

The ninth annual tour hosted by the Rotary Club of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., features six historic and contemporary houses decorated for the season; the historic McFarland House, and more.

Details: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

Tickets on days of tour also will be available from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the NOTL Golf Club, Front Street.

In addition, the Niagara Parks Commission's own annual McFarland Christmas Open House will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 2. All of the decorations at the Victorian-style historic McFarland House were created by the Garden Club of Niagara.

In the Spirit of Christmas Holiday Home Tour, Hamburg

The tour, presented by Hamburg United Methodist Church, features seven homes of various size, style, age and location. Two are located in more recent developments in the town -- Berkley Square and the Sawgrass Court townhomes.

Refreshments and theme baskets will be featured throughout the tour at the Methodist Meeting House, behind Hamburg United Methodist Church, 116 Union St.

Tickets: Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the church or at Lockwood's Greenhouses, 4484 Clark St., Hamburg. Or call the church at 649-8080. All proceeds will benefit the church's Furnishing Committee and ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

Historic Trinity Holiday House Tour, Grand Island

Five private decorated homes as well as River Lea, home of the Grand Island Historical Society in Beaver Island State Park, will be open to visitors.

Details: The Historic Trinity Committee will sponsor a Holiday House Tour & Craft Show Dec. 8. The tour runs noon to 4 p.m. The show of local handicrafts will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the chapel of Historic Trinity, 2100 Whitehaven Road, Grand Island.

Tickets: $15, and maps will be available day of tour at Historic Trinity. Presale tickets, $12, can be purchased at Pam's Gift Shop, in the Grand Island Plaza, or by calling 773-4357 or 773-7276. Admission to the craft show is free.

All proceeds will be used for the ongoing renovation and repairs to Historic Trinity.

Holiday Tour of Homes of Historic East Aurora

The tour begins at the Roycroft Inn, and spreads to eight homes located both in the village and outlying countryside.

The tour benefits Explore & More -- a children's museum; the Elbert Hubbard-Roycroft Museum, the Millard Fillmore House and the Toy Town Museum. Sponsors of the event are the Cottage, the Roycroft Inn and Martyn Printing and Graphics.

Details: 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 9.
