Sebastian Carbonara of Amherst, a retired restaurant owner, died Monday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Amherst following a short illness. He was 71.
A Buffalo native, Mr. Carbonara, who was known as "Subby," graduated from Grover Cleveland High School.
He owned and operated La Hacienda Pizzeria in South Buffalo in the mid-1960s, then, for 25 years, he owned and operated Santora Family Restaurant before retiring in 1989.
Before entering the restaurant business, Mr. Carbonara had been a construction worker with Laborers Local 210.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, the former Anita M. Dilena; a daughter, Cheryl; a son, David; two brothers, Joseph Latizia and Rocco; and a sister, Marie Spagnola.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, 200 St. Gregory Court, Amherst, after prayers at 8:15 in Amigone Funeral Home, 5200 Sheridan Drive, Amherst.
