>Debit card taken from visitor's hotel room

A Rochester woman visiting Buffalo was apparently the victim of a thief who stole her debit card from her hotel room Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The woman told Central District police she was staying in the Adam's Mark Hotel, 120 Church St., when a thief took her debit card, then tried to use it at a store.

The debit card company notified the woman about the incident.

The woman told police the theft happened sometime between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tuesday.

>Man accused of pointing rifle at student

WILSON -- A Lincoln Avenue man charged with menacing is accused of pointing an assault rifle to the head of a high school student Tuesday.

Timothy R. Moberg, 28, was arraigned in Wilson Court and held in lieu of $500 bail. An order of protection also was issued, according to Niagara County sheriff's deputies.

The victim, 18, told deputies he rode his bicycle to the parking lot of a Lake Road restaurant at 6:30 a.m., when Moberg yelled at him and pointed the rifle with attached laser at him.

He said Moberg ordered him to identify himself and threatened to take the safety off the rifle.

Deputies confiscated the rifle and 10 rounds of ammunition, as well as two shotguns and another rifle.
