CICERO -- Williamsville North completed a perfect 23-0 field hockey season Sunday morning with a 2-1 victory over defending champion Lakeland at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.
Senior midfielder Chantae Miller, senior defender Adriana Meholick and senior goalie Nicole Lewis were named to the all-tournament team for the Spartans, who are coached by Kris LaPaglia.
Miller has to be considered one of the best field hockey players to ever come out of Western New York, and it certainly showed Sunday. She had both assists, was a consistent creator on the turf and was also a big part of North's stingy defense. On the other hand, this certainly was not a one-woman show. The Spartans got great plays from every position on the field.
The other North seniors are attack players Chris Abrams and Jessica Balke, midfielder Leslie Ahern and defenders Emily Curry, Caile Morris, Tricia Kennery and Kristen Weber.
The rest of the North team consists of: junior attack players Mindy Rowekamp, Katie Dixon, Stephanie Calderon, Caitlin Butler, Sana Khan, and Emily O'Gorman; junior midfielders Melissa Apter and Lauren Weber; junior defender Caitlin Kelley; sophomores Emily Hellwig (attack), Kat Klein (midfield), Holly Flanigan (defense) and Sarah Morrison (goalie); and freshmen Emily Woods (attack), Ashley Favata (attack), Allie Ahern (attack), Sara States (midfield), Nikki Atkins (midfield) and Tiffany Cioppi (defense).
