It's time to shake your groove thing again.
Yep, I'm talking about the World's Largest Disco.
The annual Buffalo event promoting all things polyester is Saturday at the Buffalo Convention Center. And as anyone who has ever been there knows, it's all about the style.
We're talking tight jumpsuits, midriff-exposing dresses, platform shoes and interesting facial hair -- all gettin' down to business on what is reportedly New York State's largest dance floor.
Fortunately, Buffalo retailers are ready for the onslaught.
Divine Finds, an upscale vintage store on Elmwood Avenue, has a full rental section devoted to the cause, with loads of super groovy men's and women's dresses, suits, shoes, jewelry and even wigs (some of which are also for sale). Other local stores, like Marty's Formalwear in Williamsville and Betsy Ross Costume Shop in Clarence, also cater to the powder-blue/gold lame crowd.
So be sure to look the part before heading down to Buffalo's closest thing to Studio 54. And start channeling that Deney Terrio or young Liza inside you, yearning to break free.
