Jamestown police officer undergoes surgery
JAMESTOWN -- Jamestown Police Officer Glenn Boskat is expected to be hospitalized in Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa., for some time as the result of injuries suffered in a crash about 8:20 a.m. Thursday on Route 60, Jamestown police said Friday.
Boskat, 47, suffered extensive injuries. His patrol car veered off Route 60 near Terry Road and struck a pole. The impact broke the car into several pieces.
Police said Boskat underwent surgery Friday afternoon. There were no further updates on his condition late Friday.
Three homes in Elma targeted by burglars
Three daytime burglaries at Elma homes sent Erie County sheriff's deputies searching for suspects Friday, Sheriff Timothy B. Howard said.
A home on Ostrander Road and two homes on Girdle Road were burglarized. The break-ins occurred Wednesday into Friday, sheriff's officials said.
A security alarm that was triggered at one home apparently chased away burglars before anything was stolen, sheriff's officials said.
Howard advised residents to be "alert for suspicious or unusual vehicles or people in the community, especially at unoccupied houses during the day."
