I generally refrain from writing his name but I'll gladly do it here: I'm betting Barry Bonds is going to jail. Bonds was indicted late Thursday afternoon on charges of perjury and obstruction of justice related to the BALCO scandal.
This almost certainly assures we'll never have to endure No. 25 on the field again. If he somehow escapes jail time, no team would be foolish enough to touch him. It's over, Barry. See you.
I've been waiting a long time for this indictment. Trust me, if you had to deal with this boor, you'd be happy too. But this isn't about his abrasive personality. This about breaking the law and tarnishing the very essence of his sport for a generation.
Too bad Alcatraz is a tourist attraction now rather than a prison in the middle of San Francisco Bay. If I'm the Feds, I'd have put Bonds on the first boat there to let him rot. What about you?
