>Historical group readies 25th Christmas Cookie Sale
ALLEGANY -- The Allegany Area Historical Association will hold its 25th annual Christmas Cookie Sale beginning at 10 a.m. Dec. 1 in Nature's Remedy, 120 W. Main St. The sale will continue until all cookies are sold.
The Rev. Richard Husted of St. Bonaventure parish will lead the organization's 25th annual Community Christmas Service at 2 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Heritage Center, 25 N. Second St.
An offering of canned goods and paper products for the Genesis House will be accepted and music will be furnished by Beth Deitz, organist for the First Presbyterian Church of Allegany. Both events are open to the public.

OLEAN -- Crafters are invited to the Crochet & Knitting Guild's Holiday Social event at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Olean Public Library's Art Gallery.
The event is free, and attendees are asked to bring an example of their work to display.

>3 meetings scheduled to discuss veterans issues
OLEAN -- Cattaraugus County Veterans Services Director John B. Sampson has scheduled three meetings next month with veterans to discuss benefits, health care or other topics.
They will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 6 in the Gowanda American Legion Post, from 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 12 in the Randolph American Legion Post and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Dec. 18 in the Franklinville town clerk's office.
Sampson will also meet with veterans from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 5 p.m. weekdays, except legal holidays, in his Olean office in the County Building, Suite 6510, 1 Leo Moss Drive; and from 1 to 3:30 p.m. each Thursday, except the third Thursday of the month, in the Little Valley County Office Building.
