Autopsy set on woman found in burning garage

An autopsy will be done today on the body of a Town of Tonawanda woman found inside a burning garage.

Neighbors woke the husband of Carolyn Palumbo, 43, late Wednesday morning and alerted him to a fire in the detached garage behind the house at 1185 Brighton Road, according to police Lt. Nicholas A. Bado.

The body was discovered by members of the Brighton Volunteer Fire Company, who quickly extinguished the blaze. "She was in a chair," Bado said.

An autopsy will be performed by the Erie County medical examiner's office.

Foul play is not suspected, police said.
