Sister Mary Georgiana Malinowski, a religious educator, secretary, bookkeeper and Felician Sister for 70 years, died Monday in the Felician Sisters Health and Wellness Center, Cheektowaga. She was 90.
Born Eleanore Malinowski in Detroit, Sister Mary Georgiana graduated from North Tonawanda High School. She entered the Immaculate Heart of Mary Province of the Felician Sisters on July 17, 1937, and professed perpetual vows Aug. 13, 1945.
She taught religious education at several parishes in New York State, including Holy Spirit in North Collins. She spent 49 years in Canada, serving as a teacher, administrator of a day nursery, secretary and bookkeeper in Toronto. After her retirement in 1992, she remained in the Holy Name of Mary Province in Mississauga, Ont.
Sister Mary Georgiana returned to Buffalo in 2000 and, as always, was helpful to others. She enjoyed crocheting baby sets and blankets as they were requested.
She is survived by a sister, Frances Horn.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Felician Sisters Health and Wellness Center, Pine Ridge Road, Cheektowaga.
