Arrest made in slashing of man with box cutter
A 22-year-old Buffalo man was charged Monday with using a box cutter to slash a man before trying to hit him with a 19-inch television set, police reported.
Richard Parker, 29, suffered a 3-inch wound on his left triceps.
Police say Parker was assaulted by Allen R. Maxwell, who is his girlfriend's brother. Maxwell and the couple live in the same house on East Utica Street -- Maxwell lives in a lower apartment, while his sister and her boyfriend live in the upper apartment.
The two men became embroiled in an argument in the upper apartment at about 1:50 a.m., when Maxwell attacked Parker, Ferry-Fillmore District police said.
Maxwell is also accused of punching a hole in a wall and breaking a mirror, bedroom closet door and VCR tapes, and gouging an 18-inch hole in the living room wall.
Officers Molly Costantino and Steve Sierk arrested Maxwell at the home. They charged him with assault, attempted assault, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal mischief.
