Two youth boxers from the International Boxing Program at St. John's Baptist Church in Buffalo won matches in Akron, Ohio, last Saturday. At 95 pounds, 13-year-old Daynell Lynch defeated Royce McCormick of Akron, by a 5-0 decision, in a three-round bout. Lynch is the 2007 Amateur World Champion and last year's National Junior Golden Gloves champion. At 175 pounds, John Beard, 18, knocked out Randy Campbell of Denison, Ohio, in the second round of a scheduled four-round bout.
Try-it Distributing Co. Inc., is sponsoring a visit by the Budweiser Clydesdales at various sites in the Buffalo area from Thursday through Sunday.

BASEBALL: Rick Lancellotti and the Buffalo School of Baseball will hold a two-hour hitting clinic from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday at the school, 3950 Broadway, Depew. The cost is $30. To register, call 681-3001. . . . University at Buffalo baseball will host a two-day youth baseball clinic on Dec. 29-30 at Alumni Arena. Also a Holiday Showcase will be held on Dec. 29. A two-day skills clinic for youngsters 7-12 will be from 9 a.m.-noon on both days. Cost is $65. Additionally, a hitting clinic for ages 13-17 will be held 1-4 p.m. on Dec. 30. Cost is $50. The Holiday Showcase for high school juniors, seniors and junior college players is set for 1-5 p.m. on Dec. 29. The cost is $65. CROSS COUNTRY SKIING: The Buffalo Nordic Ski Club will holds its annual workshop from 7:30-10 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the Wick Center of Daemen College, 4380 Main St., Amherst. Admission is free and no reservations are needed. The program will include a cross country video, waxing clinics, equipment and clothing displays from area shops, door prizes and more. The club offers free lessons to all members as well as ski tours, monthly meetings and weekend trips to places such as Vermont, the Adirondacks and Allegany State Park.
ICE SKATING: Skate Great Inc., will offer learn-to-skate and beginner hockey classes for all ages at the Hamburg Town Arena. Classes will begin on Wednesday, Nov. 28 (5-5:45 p.m. and 6-6:45 p.m.). Also, there will be a daytime class on Thursdays (9:30-10:15 a.m.) beginning Nov. 29. The Hamburg Recreation Dept. is accepting registrations for the programs.
