Remembrance Mass

St. Joseph Hospital Guild will remember departed members of the guild, the Rev. Justin Figas and hospital benefactors in a Mass of Remembrance at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Joseph Hospital Chapel. Past and present members of the St. Joseph Hospital Guild are invited to attend.


Anniversary service

First Shiloh Baptist Church, 15 Pine St., will celebrate its 91st anniversary with a 10 a.m. worship service and a 4 p.m. reunion choir concert on Sunday.

The Rev. Michael Kelly III, pastor of Allon Chapel Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Lincoln, Neb., and grandson of former First Shiloh pastor, the Rev. E.J. Echols Jr., will be guest speaker at the morning service.


Nortz is ordained

The Rev. Robert Nortz, a Youngstown native, was ordained to the Catholic priesthood on Oct. 27 in Petersham, Mass., by Bishop Gregory Mansour.

Nortz is a member of the Maronite Monks of Adoration, an Eastern Rite monastic community in Petersham. He celebrated a Mass of Thanksgiving on Nov. 3 in his home parish, St. Bernard Church in Youngstown.


Honoring veterans

Episcopal Church of the Ascension, 16 Linwood Ave., will honor veterans of the armed forces of the United States and Canada at a 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday.


Armed Forces Sabbath

An Armed Forces Sabbath will be observed today and Sunday in two Catholic churches in South Buffalo -- St. Ambrose, 65 Ridgewood Road, and St. Agatha, 65 Abbott Road.


Hymn festival

A hymn festival will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday in Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 96 Jewett Parkway.

Episcopal Community Services agencies and other agencies will be on hand during a reception afterward, with information about volunteer opportunities in the community.


'Theology on Tap'

Peter Colosi, assistant professor of philosophy at the Austrian campus of Franciscan University, Steubenville, Ohio, will discuss the "Theology of the Body Unwrapped" at the next Theology on Tap: Buffalo presentation, 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Pearl Street Grill & Brewery, 76 Pearl St.


Installing pastor

The Rev. Michael J. Robinson will be installed as the 14th pastor of Delaware Avenue Baptist Church, 965 Delaware Ave., during a special service at 4 p.m. Nov. 18.

A native of Buffalo and former business owner, Robinson most recently served as youth pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Buffalo.


Healing Mass set

A healing Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Annunciation Church, 7580 Clinton St., Elma, with the Rev. Dennis Mancuso as celebrant. The Voices of Mercy from St. Luke's Mission of Mercy will perform.
