Man, 27, hospitalized after being shot in leg
A Hastings Avenue man was being treated Thursday in Erie County Medical Center after he was shot inside a home on Bird Avenue, Buffalo police said.
Daytoin Williams, 27, was shot in the leg inside a home in the 200 block of Bird about 7:20 p.m., according to Michael J. DeGeorge, Buffalo police spokesman.
Police said Williams was uncooperative with investigators.
Drug dealer sentenced to 6 years in prison
A Niagara Falls man was sentenced Thursday to six years in federal prison following his guilty pleas last month to two counts of drug trafficking, U.S. Attorney Terrance P. Flynn said.
Rasheen L. Bowden, 33, was on supervised release for a previous federal conviction of unlawfully possessing a firearm when he was arrested in March 2006 for two separate cocaine sales.
He was sentenced by U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny to two three-year terms in prison as well as one year of supervised release.
Two-alarm fire destroys vacant house on Clark St.
Buffalo fire officials requested emergency demolition of a vacant house that was destroyed late Wednesday afternoon in the city's second two-alarm fire of the day.
Firefighters responded to a 4:43 p.m. alarm at 141 Clark St., where flames ripped through the vacant 2 1/2 -story house and a garage, causing an estimated $40,000 damage.
Less than 15 hours earlier, another two-alarm fire left an estimated $1.2 million damage to the Elmwood Parish Commons office building on Elmwood Avenue at West Ferry Street.
Woman is thrown down stairs, robbed
A Buffalo woman was thrown down a flight of stairs Thursday morning while she visiting the home of a Walden Avenue man, police reported.
The woman was being treated in Buffalo General Hospital. Her condition is unknown, but her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The attack happened at 2:30 a.m. in the 700 block of Walden, Ferry-Fillmore District police said.
The man grabbed her and threw her down a flight of stairs, causing injury. He then tore the woman's coat off her and stole $700 from her right pocket.
A suspect has been identified, but no arrest had been made.
Man charged in rape, imprisonment of woman
An East Eagle Street man was charged Wednesday with imprisoning a woman inside his apartment for four days, tieing her up and raping her, police reported.
Ibery Frazier, 53, is charged with three counts of rape and one count of unlawful imprisonment.
The woman met Frazier last week, and he persuaded her to go home with him, Central District police said.
When she arrived at his home, an apartment in the 200 block of East Eagle, he refused to let her leave, police said. He tied her hands behind her back, tied her up and raped her three separate times, according to police reports.
Officers Deborah Daniel and Pamela Mayer arrested Frazier Wednesday afternoon at Police Headquarters.
Frazier has at least two City Court convictions -- for harassment and patronizing a prostitute, according to police records.
Arraignment scheduled on child porn charge
LOCKPORT -- A Niagara Falls man is scheduled for arraignment next week on an indictment accusing him of downloading child pornography into his home computer from Limewire, a file-sharing Web site often used for music downloads.
Assistant District Attorney Elizabeth R. Donatello said Charles F. Harman, 44, of South Avenue, was to have been arraigned Thursday on four counts of possession and two counts of promotion of a sexual performance by a child, but the court appearance was postponed because of a scheduling mix-up.
Harman was arrested by state police April 19 after they received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which monitored the porn traffic on the site in January, when Harman allegedly obtained and shared the material.
Armed robber targets Main Street bookstore
A Main Street bookstore was robbed at gunpoint at about 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Buffalo police said.
"This is a stickup," the robber told an employee of Valore Books, 3142 Main St.

Plant worker injured in machinery accident
WHEATFIELD -- A Ransomville man suffered wrist and arm injuries Wednesday in a machinery accident at Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. on Shawnee Road, Niagara County sheriff's deputies said.
Lee M. Hilliard, 22, suffered injuries to his right wrist and arm, which was pinned by a crossbar, deputies said. Hilliard was treated in Kenmore Mercy Hospital.
