So Blues Traveler has reached that point in every artist's career when an album of "covers" seems like a good idea, either because said artist has a burning desire to celebrate some of their favorite songs, or simply because said artist has a paucity of new material and needs a sort of stop-gap. Being Blues Traveler, however, this "covers" album is not toeing the line.
Indeed, "Cover Yourself" lives up to its name; the band digs into its own back catalog and comes up with some inspired reinterpretations of past glories. And the album's track list was picked by the band's fans, known as "Fellow Travelers," a hearty lot devoted to all things John Popper and Co.
Blues Traveler's travels bring the band to Club Infinity, 8166 Main St., Williamsville, at 7 tonight. Lisa Bouchelle opens. Tickets are $25.
