For Section VI football, the toughest games of the season are often in the Far West Regionals. That's when the best from Western New York take on the champions from Section V (the Rochester area) for the right to advance to the state final four.
Tell us how many teams you think will be able to beat Section V's best in Rochester, and who you think has the best shot. Tell us why by clicking "comments" at the bottom of this post. When you vote, you'll see the current results; the polls will close at kickoff of Friday's Class D game. Here's the lineup:
CLASS D -- Randolph (8-2) vs. V-Bolivar-Richburg (10-0), Friday, 5 p.m.
CLASS A -- Sweet Home (10-0) vs. V-Aquinas (10-0), Friday, 8 p.m.
CLASS C -- Cleveland Hill (8-2) vs. V-LeRoy (10-0), Saturday, noon
CLASS B -- Depew (9-1) vs. V-Geneva (8-2), Saturday, 3 p.m.
CLASS AA -- Orchard Park (10-0) vs. V-Canandaigua (10-0), Saturday, 6 p.m.
The regional site alternates each year -- last year they were at Ralph Wilson Stadium; this year they are at Paetec Park, downtown Rochester's pro soccer stadium. The Section V championships, as well as some other playoff games, were held at Paetec.
As if the Section V needed something else to play for: they know that if they win, they'll play at Paetec Park again. That's because this season's state semifinals have been scheduled there since last year. The state championships are, as usual, at Syracuse University's Carrier Dome (Nov. 23 and 25).
