Sister Louise Haughton, a teacher and administrator, died Sunday in Sisters of St. Mary Marycrest Residence. She was 96.
A native of St. Eugene, Ont., the former Mary Haughton entered the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur in Kenmore in 1942, following her two older sisters into religious life.
During her career as an educator, Sister Louise taught and served as an administrator for schools in Buffalo and Kenmore for many years. After retiring from teaching, she became a Eucharistic minister at Annunciation parish in Buffalo.
Known for her ambitious work and her love of nature, Sister Louise enjoyed planting flowers at the Annunciation convent and using the time to meet and speak with people as they passed by.
She had no immediate survivors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the St. Mary Center Chapel, 241 Lafayette Ave.
