Art show to aid victims of eating disorders
The artwork of Heather Begeny, a Buffalo woman who died of an eating disorder in March 2003 at age 22, will be among the works shown at a new art exhibit designed to promote healthy body image.
The "See the Beauty" show will open at Gallery 51, 567 Elmwood Ave., at 6 p.m. Nov. 10, organizers said.
Tickets to the opening-night reception -- which also will include a poetry reading, appetizers and a variety of beverages -- are $20 and can be purchased in advance online at www.featherweightinc.com.
The show will feature the work of artists from Western New York, and all proceeds will go to help cover treatment expenses for local people suffering from eating disorders, organizers said.
The show is being organized by Featherweight, an eating disorders awareness group started by friends and family of Begeny following her death.
