>Historical society plans Martin Luther tribute
BERGHOLZ -- The Historical Society of North German Settlements in Western New York will honor Martin Luther's birthday with a Medieval celebration at 5 p.m. Nov. 10 in Holy Ghost Lutheran School, Niagara Road and Luther Street.
Luther dealt the symbolic blow that began the Reformation when he nailed his 95 theses to the door of Wittenberg Cathedral in Germany. The document contained an attack on papal abuses and the sale of indulgences by church officials.
Attendees will experience foods of the time and entertainment including singing, skits, a juggler and a recorder quintet, and members of the Society for Creative Anachronism, a group that dresses in Medieval and early Renaissance styles, will prepare much of the food and deliver the entertainment.
The menu, service and entertainment will be typical of the early 1500s.
Tickets are $15 and will not be sold at the door. Call 731-9905 or 297-1786 for more information and to reserve a seat.
