If you think I’m a tough critic of local news, then you should check out what Channel 4 reporter Alysha Palumbo is saying about the business.
In a series of exchanges on the blog BuffaloPundit, Palumbo defends herself against criticism of a political story she covered by questioning the news judgment of station producers and saying she battles when she doesn’t think something should be covered.
She also takes a shot at Channel 2 reporter Scott Brown and even weighs in on a blog comment about the appearance of Channel 4 reporter Melissa Holmes. Palumbo’s response could be taken as a shot at her colleague.
“And I agree with you,” Palumbo answered a blogger, “Melissa is much more attractive than me. I’m glad you make your news viewing choices on looks rather than substance.”
Palumbo’s remarks have local media types buzzing and remembering the infamous critical memo that Channel 7 legend Irv Weinstein wrote about the station’s staff. However, Weinstein never intended for the public to see his remarks, which eventually were leaked to The Buffalo News.
Palumbo shared her views on a Web site that is read by members of the local media. Reached by The Buffalo News, she declined to comment.
